Creative Craft Rendevouz
Perth Hills Events and The Quilt Fairy are calling all artists, crafters and creatives to gather at this fantastic event. Two days packed with workshops conducted by tutors from all around WA teaching us new and old skills. This event is open to everyone over the age of 12. Workshops will be very diverse this year with even a blacksmith becoming involved.

1. Cutting Machine Creations - Workshop with Michele McDonald from Shell Craft
This full-day, beginner-friendly workshop introduces the creative possibilities of cutting machines through live demonstrations and hands-on projects.
Participants will learn how to work with adhesive vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, and cardstock while creating three take-home projects throughout the day.
With all materials supplied in pre-prepared kits, Michele will guide you step-by-step, sharing practical tips, techniques, and troubleshooting advice to help build your confidence and creativity.

5. Flora onto Fibre
Botanical Printing
Workshop with Leonie Micke and Beth Sievenpiper
Flora onto Fibre Botanical Printing will lead you on an exciting journey enabling you to achieve detailed leaf prints and beautiful colours.
Combining natures colours with prepared fabrics, participants will be taken through the method required to achieve amazing Botanical Prints.
Participants will print a length of linen, keeping the natural fabric colour. This piece can be used as a table runner or be made into a bag.
Following that, we will print a silk scarf with leaf prints combined with a colourful natural dye or tannin background.

2. Easy Sew Dress with Pockets

Learn to sew an easy dress with pockets using pre-shirred fabrics in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop.
With step-by-step guidance from the tutors, you can create a fitted or loose-style dress — or choose to make a top or skirt instead. Suitable for all skill levels, including confident beginners and quilters wanting to try garment sewing.
By the end of the day, you’ll head home with a handmade wardrobe piece and the all-important skill of adding pockets — because life really is better with pockets!

6. Geometric Sewing Machine
Workshop with Michelle Jones of The Quilt Fairy
In this workshop you will make a cute mat for beneath your sewing machine and learn the art of Foundation Paper Piecing. Although it looks difficult, Foundation Paper Piecing is a very easy technique that is a bit like “sew by numbers” and helps you to achieve perfect points on all of your pieces.
Your sewing machine mat is approximately 20” x 24” and the kit will include your pattern, foundation paper, all fabric for the top panel, batting, backing & binding.
It’s sew much fun that you will become addicted!

3. Large Hand Bag Wet Felted Workshop with Tania Wakefield
Come and join me in making this lovely handbag, measuring approximately 40 cm wide and 30cm deep, large enough to carry all your necessities. This bag and strap will be wet felted in a 1 full day workshop, and there are a few colour choices for this bag as seen in the sample swatches. We will use a large resist to lay out our felt, with instruction sheets provided on the day. This is not a difficult project and even those people who have never touched felt will be able to make this lovely useful bag. There is a large front flap on the bag which is a feature on its own, and keeps the contents of your bag nice and secure. You will have the option of putting in a phone pocket during the making of your bag.

10. Winding Ways Patchwork Quilt
Workshop with Sandi Kelliher
Students will learn to create these gentle curves with the assistance of die cut pieces and easy techniques for curved piecing to create the interlocking design.
Instruction given for preparation of bias binding for curved edges. Small quilt 32 x 32 inch. Accuquilt die and cutter will be provided if you choose to bring your own fabrics. You can organise to have these die cut prior to the class once you have cut your fabric as per cutting instructions (or earlier on the day of class). OR Kits provided: includes die cut pieces for quilt top pictured (in your colour preference) and binding fabric. $50 (To be ordered beforehand).

7. Powertex Triptych
Workshop with Fiona Crockett
Students will be working with Powertex to create a textured triptych in one of three colours - green, blue or terracotta - the Colours of the Earth. We will work with Powertex Universal Medium as a colour base, then with stencils and Easy Structure texture paste and 3D Easyflex to build layers and texture. They will be able to add natural elements to their work such as sand, stones, gum nuts and seeds or pods. I will teach them how to create a crackle effect if they would like using Bister which will also enhance their colour in interesting ways. Finally we add some touches of sparkle to highlight the incredible textures they have created. The result is a stunning piece of art that can't go wrong! The workshop will take 6-7 hours and all equipment is provided.

Join Zac and learn how to make your very own knife.

4. Felted Brooch or Mushrooms
Workshop with Tania Wakefield
This workshop will teach you how to needle felt on a pre-felted surface or shape and needle felting other colours on the top of those surfaces to add colour and dimension to finish the piece either as a brooch, handbag adornment or for the start of a picture. If you have completed the felted handbag this workshop will help you adorn your bag with some other felted items such as flowers, mushrooms, dragonfly, or bird.
I have included photo’s of a flower brooch and a mushroom picture, but I am open to teaching you different subjects as well. Just let me know by the end of May your preferred pattern and I will make up the kit for you.

8. Retreat Bag
Workshop with Joy Plug
In this class for the Retreat Bag, you will be learning an awesome way of putting in a zipper, pockets inside the bag, and attaching handles to make it an easier bag to carry. It has a wire frame in the top so that it has a nice big wide opening which stays open for you.
This Retreat Bag has many uses, as it is a handbag size, it can be used as a toiletry bag, or a hand sewing bag, a sewing tool bag, even a handbag, whatever you like really.
I really enjoy making these as they make beautiful gifts. The pattern you receive on the day will give you two sizes that you can make.
I will have some of the smaller frames for purchase on the day for the second pattern in the instructions.
